This revised assignment is more than just a historical narrative, it must be analytic, explaining the course materials and making clear connections between the materials and how you experience your California. This assignment is more than just a persona l narrative: you must provide analyses of these experiences supported by materials from at least four (4) readings, and (2) films from class. You must clearly indicate the materials you’re including from class lectures and discussion, film screenings and readings.
List of the films you can use( La La Land(2016), Devil in a Blue Dress
(1995), Lady Bird (2017), Chinatown (1974)).
the readings ( (Joan Didion,Where I Was From,) ( Woo, Masters, Gilmartin, Ulin essays) in LAtitudes ), (Walter Mosley,
Devil in a Blue Dress)).
I posted my responds for some of the readings and my first essay. My professors comment on my essay “I’d love to know more about why California was the top choice of places for you to study. What did California mean to you and how did you come about that understanding? You do a good job here of getting at the positives and the negatives, the “sunshine and noir” version of California. Any ways to talk about that more in the revision? Isn’t it a paradox that the appeal of California has led to its congestion and pollution? What are we to do to keep the California Dream alive for future residents from all over the world?”
