1. There are many examples of business disputes involving intellectual property. Using the Internet locate a real example of an active dispute involving a patent, copyright, trademark or trade secret and summarize the main points of your findings. Then, predict what you believe will be the outcome of the dispute for the example you provided given your understanding of the law in the Chapter reading. Justify your response.
2. The Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, by a 2-1 decision, canceled six federal trademark registrations owned by the Washington Redskins football team. The Board of the Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) ruled that the term “Redskins” was disparaging to “a substantial composite” of American Indians when the marks were granted between 1967 and 1990.
