Create an outline for your essay using a pattern-by-pattern (block) or point-by-point pattern (alternating).  Be sure to submit your outline with your essay. 

DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENT:

  • Read “Charles” by Shirley Jackson on pp. 229-232 and “The Open Window” by Saki H.H. Munro.
  • Review the “For Writing or Discussion” on page 235.
  • Use question number 4 to write an essay comparing and/or contrasting Jackson’s short story with Saki’s.
