Values are defined as abstract ideas about what a group believes to be good, right, and desirable. Norms are defined as the social rules and guidelines that prescribe appropriate behavior in particular situations. If you are trying to develop or maintain an international business, values and norms are to factors that must be considered. Just as a manager must consider culture and laws, values and norms should be considered as well because it is what the people of that culture think and feel. As a business manager you want to ensure that the business that you are providing will coincide with and relate to the values and norms of the culture. If not, your business may not be as successful and could possibly be rejected by the targeted market that you are offering your business to.
