When  should a nurse question the actions of a doctor? When  can a nursing license be suspended or revoked?

Ethical Issues in Nursing and Nursing Laws Essays

Part I: Nursing Laws

When nurses  exceed their scope of practice,  they violate their nursing license and may be  performing tasks that  are reserved by statute for another healthcare  professional, such as a  physician (Fremgen, 2012). Due to the shortage of  nurses, their  responsibilities are ever increasing, which may lead to actions  that  result in malpractice. However, nurses have not generally been involved   in lawsuits for exceeding their scope of practice or violating their  license,  unless they also acted negligently (Fremgen, 2012).

Accordingly, by  using the Internet  resources, research your state’s nursing laws and  regulations. Based on  the knowledge gained from your readings, respond to the  following  questions with examples:

  • When  should a nurse question the actions of a doctor?
  • When  can a nursing license be suspended or revoked?

Justify your  answers with appropriate  research and reasoning by using examples and  references from textbooks,  the South University Online Library, and other  acceptable references.  Cite sources in the APA format. Further, comment on  the postings of at  least two peers.
